A quick post...

Items for the memory boxes need not cost alot of money. Unfortunately, as one person alone it adds up.

To give you an example of items that I got from the dollar store, here are a few photos:

cute little blankets

baby face cloths, 4 in each pack = 4 for $1

Cute hooded towels. Matches the cloths.

Items like this are not always available, so I try and get as many as possible. The problem is I can't afford to get ALL of them at once, as much as I'd like to.

My goal is to take in as many completed boxes as possible sometime in July. I have several partly completed boxes. I am not sure if I will get any completed boxes, which makes me feel bad. :(

Those are all so cute!! And you got them at the dollar store!! That is great! I know it can get expensive. I have been making some hats but not nearly enough. I haven't really been aggressive about completing the first box-I haven't even contacted anyone at the hospital that I plan on donating them to. I am so behind.

I'll have to make it a goal to contact the hospital this month and get my first kit together!!

Keep it up-you are doing a great thing!

I think you should tally up what you have a see how many boxes you can realistically complete with what you have. I know that you still need much to fill them all.

But, see what you have most of and if you can complete say, 10 boxes realistically, because you have at least 10 of most items, then post what you need to complete those 10. That will make it so you can realistically do this!

Plus, then maybe I'll actually be able to remember to grab some stuff to fill... I have to go on a donation shopping spree soon anyway, getting school supplies for church.

Hey, I'll trade ya. If you have clothes you don't want / can't use, I'll take those to church for the clothing drive. They are just giving them away for free to those in need one day in September. then I'll bring you box stuff! Ok, even if you have no clothes, I'll still bring you box stuff. heh. I'll try to remember to get cameras for the next time I see you.

Good luck with your boxes. It actually took me almost a year to complete my first (template) box just because I didn't have the $ or couldn't find items that I wanted. I look forward to seeing your boxes. If we lived closer we could collaborate on this project together!

Alli:

I do have clothes that you can have. I was going to donate some of it to charity anyway.

I looked for cameras at superstore yesterday.. I guess digital cameras are getting so popular and cheap that disposible cameras aren't that easy to come by! They only had maybe 5 cameras, and they were all the $10 each "fancy" ones. I will find some though.

I have noticed that anything film is hard to find these days. I have occasionally seen them at the dollar store too, but they are only 12ex. I haven't bought any, I saw them before I started the memory box project.

Not sure if you have an Ocean State Job lot near you but We have one and they have cameras (disposable one) that I also used myself before, for $3.00
